Welcome to Sundial grocers, an employee owned community grocer and farmers market with plans to open in every state and city in the nation. The companies goal is to help build the infrastructure within each local community to grow local organic food year round and to support local farmers, food artisans and fisherman. We are a new (actually an old way) way of bringing food from farm to table at a fair price without the need or help from large CEO managed wall street companies.
Our first store is planned for Birmingham, Alabama with a goal to open in the summer of 2011. Our number one goal is to have a store for each state in the nation opened by summer 2012 and a store for each community by 2015. We need you help in a very simple plan and cannot do it without you.
The design of financing the concept is very unique, unprecedented and simply requires that you use our links to companies going green. The idea for the concept came about after many years of watching the local neighborhood grocer being taken over by wall street, large corporate farms and pre packaged food companies.
We developed a plan in which we would model our store after another very successful 100% employee owned grocer. We realized by doing this we could also create the infrastructure to support local farmers, fisherman and food artisans who made local products and do so at a price that was much lower than typical for these type of goods. In fact we believe we have found a formula in which large corporations just may have to play on an even playing field with today's small green entrepreneur. We hope we can create an example that can be applied to most business models and help re empower the small entrepreneur.
We plan to offer those who support us a chance to vote on important issues in creating the store and concept, things such as who gets hired as we build these stores. ( in fact you may even work in one of the stores or supply us with products.) We will also present a variety of business decisions in building this first store and your vote will decide the issue. We expect this to be a lot of fun and the first national company to be built by the people who support it instead of venture capitalist or a CEO and his corporate team of geniuses dictating how they are smarter than the people who do all of the work.

We are redoing the site but wanted to go ahead and get started as we must purchase the property a.s.a.p. and start paying a staff so they can devote full time to the project instead of working full time at another job to pay the bills. After the first five people are hired we will begin taking a vote on each position as it becomes available. (Yes you will have to shoot a video of yourself and present it against everyone else seeking that position. You will also actually have to be qualified for it also.) We will also explain the development plans in detail and take votes on a variety of issues such as what alternative energy systems would be the smartest choice for the property, which rain catcher is the best choice for our organic gardens.
Almost everything we do will be voted on by you.
We need to raise five million dollars to open our first store and that is going to take approximately 60 million dollars in sales.That may seem large but it is about an hours worth of sales for all of the affiliates we currently represent. With your help we could do this by Christmas 2010 or sooner, especially if you help spread the word. The fact is we could do it in less than 24 hours if enough of you helped get the word out in a super big way. We are betting everything that once we open our first store, and you see what we are actually creating that you will be motivated enough to help us build all 56 locations by summer 2012. Please help us at least build our first store and then decide if we are really worth helping in a big way. We can really do this but only with your help.
